Sword: Used to mark and consecrate the Circle. In coven work, it is used for initiations and is only used by the High Priest/Priestess.
Goddess and God Symbols: Symbols that are placed on the alter. This can be a sea shell to represent the Goddess and a small, dragon statue to represent the God.
Book of Shadows: Hand-written book consisting of rites, rules, magical techniques, etc.
Athame: Director of energy, used to cast the Magic Circle.
Censer: Incense or herbs can be burned in it to cleanse ritual space or to invite the presence of the Goddess and God.
Chalice or Cup: Holds wine, water, juice, etc, during ritual(s).
Bolline: Used for cutting purposes inside and outside of the Circle.
Salt: Used for Circle casting, consecration of tools, and other purposes.
Water: Purification of the Circle.
Pentacle: Flat disk bearing the symbol of a 5-pointed star.
Wand: Used in Circle raising, or inviting beings into the Circle.
Cauldron: Ritual fires can be burned in it.
Bell: Can be rung at specific points in ritual.
Cords: Can be used for aid in laying the boundaries of the Circle. Also used in Coven workings.
Alter Cloth: Cloth laid on the alter, its color usually corresponds to the ritual or the rite being performed.
Candles: Used to mark the four cardinal points during rituals and one red candle is always placed on the alter. A green candle can be used as a Goddess symbol and a red candle can be used for the God symbol.
Besom (Broom): Used to clean ritual areas before rituals begin.
